My Personal Notes
I've tried this recipe with many different variations: different sauces, adding pepperoni, all sausage, all hamburger, and different types of cheeses. This is my go-to recipe for lasagna. The two sauces really bring it all together.
It's a family favorite for sure! Don't forget some of your favorite breadsticks to go with it.

Two-Sauce Lasagna
Ingredients
- 12 to 14 lasagna noodles
- 16 ounces cottage cheese
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, divided
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground sausage
- 24 ounces traditional marinara sauce
- 16 ounces Alfredo sauce
Recipe
- Brown the ground beef and sausage together, then drain.
- Bring a large pan of water to a boil. Add the noodles and cook for 10 minutes. Run cold water over them until they are easy to handle.
- Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- In a large bowl, combine the cottage cheese, mozzarella, 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese, and eggs.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce across the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place 4 noodles over the sauce; they can overlap.
- Spread half the cheese mixture over the noodles, then add another cup of marinara sauce.
- Spread the beef and sausage mixture evenly over the sauce.
- Place 4 more noodles over the meat; they can overlap. Spread the remaining cheese mixture over them.
- Spread the remaining marinara sauce evenly over the cheese mixture.
- Add the last of the noodles. If you like a lot of noodles, add the extras in this layer.
- Spread all the Alfredo sauce over the top, making sure the noodles are covered. Sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes to lightly brown the top.
- Cut into squares and serve.
